KARACHI: In a significant achievement, Pakistani bodybuilders won two medals at the 3rd European Bodybuilding Championship in Budapest, Hungary. This was Pakistan’s first time participating in the tournament.
Arsalan Baig earned a silver medal in the Sports Physique category, while Shehzad Qureshi took home a bronze medal in the Bodybuilding category.
Sohail Anwar, the General Secretary of the Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation (PBBF), congratulated the winners and participants for their hard work.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Hungary, Asif Hussain Memon, also praised the bodybuilders for their achievements.
The championship was organized by the Hungarian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (HBPSF) and supported by the Hungarian government. The event began on May 18th, with the Pakistani team leaving for Europe on May 16th.
Upon confirming Pakistan’s participation, Anwar expressed his excitement, saying: “We are thrilled to take this historic step into Europe and showcase the talent and dedication of our athletes. We are grateful for the support of the Hungarian government in making this opportunity possible.”
Pakistani bodybuilders have previously competed in championships organized by the World Bodybuilding and Physique Federation (WBPF), the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Federation (ABBF), and the South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Federation (SABBF). So far, they have won an impressive 97 medals in these competitions.
Bodybuilding involves building a muscular and balanced body through training, a strict diet, and proper rest. At the international level, the sport focuses on having an impressive physique that appeals to a panel of judges.
