Pakistan ranked 10th globally for the time spent on mobile devices (Android), with users in the country logging a total of 99 billion hours on their smartphones in 2023.
According to the State of Apps report for Pakistan, released by Data Darbar in collaboration with the Emirati premium streaming platform Begin, there were 124 million broadband subscribers in Pakistan in 2023, and the average data consumption per user was 7.5GB per month.
The number of app downloads in Pakistan remained relatively stable throughout 2023, totaling 3.51 billion.
Pakistan emerged as one of the fastest-growing app markets in recent years. In 2022, its growth rate increased by nearly 35 percent, rising from 2.61 billion downloads in 2021 to 3.52 billion downloads in 2022. However, growth in 2023 was almost flat, showing a slight decline of 0.3 percent.
The report links this slowdown to a global trend, noting that worldwide app downloads only increased marginally by 0.8 percent, reaching 257 billion in 2023, up from 255 billion in the previous year.
