Pakistan is getting tough on tax evaders! The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has blocked the SIM cards of 3,500 users who haven’t filed their tax returns.
Another 5,000 non-filers received warnings, and more are on the way…
The FBR is working with telecom companies especially PTA (Pakistan Telecom Authority) to identify and block SIM cards linked to tax evaders. An automated system is also being developed to streamline this process.
This crackdown aims to pressurise people to file their tax returns and boost government revenue. Telecom companies that don’t cooperate will face legal action.
