To celebrate his remarkable performance throughout the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi, awarded team captain Babar Azam with a luxury car on Monday.
Afridi shared a post on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), showing Babar Azam proudly sitting in his new car alongside Afridi.
In this season’s PSL, Babar was a standout player, scoring the most runs in the tournament. Over 11 innings, he racked up 569 runs, boasting an average of 56.90, including five half-centuries and one century.
Despite being favored to win, Peshawar Zalmi was defeated in both of their knockout matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.
Babar is also currently leading the Pakistan cricket team in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand, with the series tied at 1-1. The remaining two matches will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
In the third T20I, which Pakistan lost, Babar surpassed Aaron Finch as the highest-scoring T20I captain. To date, he has scored 2,246 runs as captain in 67 innings.
Notably, Babar is Pakistan’s top scorer in the T20I format with a total of 3,749 runs from 105 innings, including 33 fifties and three centuries. He was reinstated as the white-ball captain before the series with New Zealand began, following Shaheen Afridi’s removal after just one series.
